General Information:
Cumbernauld Old Parish Church is one of five Church of Scotland congregations in the town and serves the northern part of the town, including the Village as well as Castlecary, Craigmarloch, Westerwood, Balloch, Eastfield, Carickstone and Dullatur. We have two worship services each week and are actively involved in Cumbernauld Churches Together. We support the work of Christian Aid, the Scottish Bible Society and our World Mission Partners in South Africa.
The parish church building owes its foundations to a chapel built in the late 12th or early 13th century. It was rebuilt around 1650 and greatly extended in 1659. It was further enlarged by the addition of a second tier and galleries around the end of the eighteenth century.
Worship services started in Balloch / Eastfield in 1982 and we also meet there every Sunday in the Forge Community Centre. The Forge is also the home of our BB Company - the 1st Cumbernauld.
