DR JACK DYCE
Jack is Principal of the Scottish United Reformed and Congregational College and is responsible also for education provision for the Synod of Scotland of the United Reformed Church.
A minister of the URC, ordained in 1976, he has served in three congregations.
For 14 years, he worked in local government in adult and community education with particular interests in adult learning approaches, engagement in civic society and educational work with older people.
His academic research interests are in the field of applied educational studies and include
Educational evaluation (MA)
The training of elders and church lay leadership (MSc)
Lay education for engagement in wider society (PhD).
From his first degree in organisational behaviour, he has an interest in organisational development and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Jack has a commitment to the use of storytelling and narrative approaches across a wide range of church life – Biblical storytelling and story in worship and narrative as a tool in personal and group development. He has experience too in using a range of inquiry methods in learning.
With Sue Kirkbride, he has published a resource pack on Managing to Change, with Linda Rice materials for adults and children around the stories of Hans Christian Andersen and also a training book on storytelling.
